Load Management

Load Management is the ability to control the use of electricity at certain times to reduce peaks in the demand placed on the electrical system.  The Load Management System allows cooperative consumer-members to become partners in the effort to control electric rates.

The system works by centrally controlling electric water heaters in participating co-op  members' homes to reduce the use of electricity during peak demand periods.

   How it works:

  • A small load control receiver (LCR) is installed free of charge on your electric water heater.
  • When demand for electricity is at its highest, a signal is sent to your LCR, temporarily switching off your electric water heater.  This happens for short periods of time, several times a month,... but not every day.
  • Participants in the Load Management Program receive a $3.00 credit on their electric bill each month.
  • Participants are also eligible to receive a free electric water heater for new homes and a quality replacement water heater for only $100.
