Annual
Meeting
The Annual Meeting of the Membership is held each year at
a location within a county served by the Cooperative and selected by the Board
of Directors. This is a chance for you to learn about the co-op's business,
to voice your views and to elect directors to represent you on the Board.
The 2011 Annual Meeting of the members
of United Electric Cooperative, Inc. was held on Wednesday, May 25, 2011
at the Brady Township Community Center in Luthersburg at 7:00 pm. About
370 members and guest were in attendance. Board Chairman, Stephen Marshall
updated the attendees on the cooperative’s status. The results of director
elections were announced for Districts 3 and 6. The judge of elections,
Patrick Lavelle, certified that Timothy Burkett, incumbent director in
District 6 was re-elected unopposed. In District 3, elections were held
between current director, Richard (Pete) Petrosky and Henry Daugherty.
Richard Petrosky was re-elected for a new 4 year term.
The guest speaker for he evening was
Frank Bentley, President and CEO of Allegheny Electric Cooperative and
Pennsylvania Electric Rural Association. He updated members on electric
choice and the specifics of how it works. He also informed the members
that the main reason no alternative generation suppliers are marketing to
cooperative members is because United Electric is 17% cheaper for
generation and transmission than the lowest generation provider in the
state, and 38% cheaper than the major private power companies in the
state.
The special guest speaker for the
evening was Jenny Nolan, a nationally know humorist. She delighted the
attendees with tales from her childhood and growing up in the rural south.
A door prize drawing capped off the
evening. The Clearfield County Dairy Princess and her committee were on
hand to provide refreshments.
United Electric Cooperative’s Board of
Directors and Management would like to thank all who were in attendance
for contributing to a productive and informative Annual Meeting.
The 2012 Annual Meeting has been set for May 23, 2012 At
the Brady Township Community Center in Luthersburg at 7:00 pm.
